Shizuoka is proud of its tea place ! Tea and history cultural experience tour
Tour overview
Shizuoka Prefecture ranks among the top in the nation in terms of tea production and quality. Tea production in Shizuoka began about 1,200 years ago when seeds brought back from what is now China were planted. Due to its warm climate and rich geographical environment, Shizuoka Prefecture has more than 20 tea-producing regions and each region has its own tea culture. This tour will introduce you to the tea culture as well as its history and food culture.
At the tea-themed "Tea Museum, Shizuoka", you can learn not only about Shizuoka tea, but also the tea industry, history, culture, and functionality around the world, as well as experience tea picking and hand kneading involved in tea production. In addition, you can experience tea culture such as matcha grinding experience, which is rare even in the prefecture, and tea ceremony experience in a tea room.
For lunch, we will go to Ishidatamichaya-en, a popular cafe in a renovated Japanese traditional house, and had the basics of Japanese cuisine, "Ichiju Sansai" (a combination of rice, the staple food of Japanese people, soup, and three side dishes). ) and Shizuoka tea together. Enjoy your lunch in a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the beautiful courtyard.
The old Tokaido road, which runs from Ishidatamichaya-en to Kikugawa, is lined with cobblestones that have been paved for the safety of travelers since ancient times. There are various historical sites dotted along the cobblestone road, which is said to be one of only three in Japan, so why not take a stroll and get a feel for the good old days of Japan?
You are sure to enjoy Shizuoka to the fullest with a variety of tours that introduce you to tea, food, and travel culture!
